Kirlin Lighting is a Detroit-based manufacturer of high-quality lighting fixtures, which are sold to prominent healthcare facilities and commercial structures around the world. Training will be provided for all aspects of the duties.
General Summary
The primary goal of the Material Handler is to pick and issue material for jobs, put stock away, and maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization. An effective Material Handler will help the company achieve improved efficiencies, reduced costs, and a safer working environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Pick material for jobs and route to next operations
- Issue material to jobs and report shortages
- Fill job shortages as materials become available
- Move stock material to proper warehouse bin locations
- Ensure that related travelers are included with routed parts
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness
- Apprise production team of job status in production meetings or as requested
- Report problems with jobs
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain shortage report
- Keep pick staging area neat and organized
- Ensure that all staged materials have correct job identification attached
- Assist with or perform cycle counting and inventory functions
- Operate fork lift in safe manner and maintain as needed
- Adhere to all plant, union, local, and federal rules/regulations
Background, Experience, and Skills
- Experience with MRP or ERP program interface (desired)
- Willingness to work overtime if required
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to read assembly drawings
- Operation of fork lift and pallet jacks
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to stand for up to 10 hours
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.50 - $16.50 per hour
