The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate accounting and financial record-keeping and compliance within the organization. The Specialist is responsible for a range of accounting tasks, and this role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting and financial principles. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Receivable: Process payments accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor accounts receivable aging and work with management on overdue accounts and payments. Coordinate with customers to resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service and addressing inquiries or concerns regarding billing and payment issues. Serve as a liaison between the accounting department and other departments to resolve customer-related issues.
  • Financial Data Management: Maintain and update financial records, including accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and sales/revenue data. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information through regular reconciliation and verification processes.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and analyze expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines. Assist in preparing financial reports and forecasts as needed.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Compile financial data and generate reports for management review. Support external auditors during annual audits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, accounts payable, human resources, and operations, to provide financial insights and support business initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address their accounting-related inquiries and requests.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Implement best practices and recommend software solutions to enhance productivity and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management. Provide financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making. Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in accounting or finance preferred (recent graduates welcome to apply).
  • Experience in accounting or finance roles a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
