POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions supports the mission of the University by overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of the undergraduate and graduate admissions and recruiting process to successfully meet enrollment goals.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Office of Admissions to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Provide and interpret data for Admission funnel performance on a weekly basis that will support and inform decision-making for leadership.
  • Provide administrative leadership to the Admissions Review Committee by serving as its chairperson. 
  • Oversee communication with prospective students, parents, and other constituents that will result in quality engagement with all constituents.
  • Ensure content on TKU’s website is current and informative concerning areas of recruitment and admissions while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Represent the University and provide oversight for various recruitment and admissions events on and off campus that align with department goals.
  • Develop and Manage the department budget with adequate resources to fulfill department goals and university strategic initiatives.
  • Provide an annual review of Office of Admissions policies and procedures and recommend any revisions that will ensure best practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge and training of higher education best practices used for recruitment and admissions that will inform an Annual Recruiting Plan.

  • Utilize effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly both internally and publicaly.
  • Participate in professional development activities that are aligned with University, departmental and individual goals.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by governing entities (DOE, TRACS, ABHE, etc.); file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight to Admissions/Recruitment offices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in higher education recruitment and admissions.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of enrollment management concepts and a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding enrollment goals.
  • Strong customer service aptitude and ability to motivate staff.
  • Ability for critical and logical thinking, good judgement, and problem solving.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong technical skills that include experience working with student management systems and software.
  • The ability to interpret data and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • The ability to develop, interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

  • Travel and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, are required
