Role Summary:
Reporting to the Professional Services Manager, the Solutions Architect position comprises the core functions of the Professional Services team: customer relationship management from opportunity inception, design and implementation of the team’s preferred hardware and software, and coordination of all project aspects. The role will demonstrate the team’s ability to deliver in all phases of various project opportunities. The Solutions Architect will also assist other team members in their implementation of established solutions and provide support to other Kendall colleagues as needed. Kendall’s Professional Services team exists to add value to partnering customers by driving positive outcomes through Software as a Service solutions. This mission is built largely on the foundational contributions of the team’s Solutions Architect.
Exciting work you will do:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Solutions Architect position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Understand the entire digital transformation opportunity facing customers and how Kendall can partner with them to deliver positive outcomes
  • Envision possible future team capabilities
  • Participate in the strategic growth and directional decisions for the team
  • Establish foundational methods and practices core to the team’s operations
  • Assist the Professional Services Team Manager for team-related decisions such as hardware, software, team process and personnel recommendations
  • Be a lead representative for the Professional Services team throughout Kendall
  • Truly partner with customers to ensure desired outcomes are realized
  • Develop new standardized and adaptable hardware solutions leveraging existing company strategic partnerships that also maximize value to Kendall
  • Develop comprehensive SaaS solutions that align with client needs and industry best practices for scalability, security, and reliability
  • Project Management duties including, but not limited to, all customer relationship efforts from scoping efforts, charter development, quote creation tasks and final implementation coordination
  • Own and prioritize opportunities passed from marketing, outside sales, and national accounts
  • Manage workflow and competing priorities of other team member’s activities
  • Communicate timely updates to internal and external contacts
  • Provide technical support for implemented solutions when the need arises
  • Set a team standard of exceeding customer and partner expectations
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members when needed
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

What you’ll need:
  • Work Experience: 5 years’ experience in an engineering-related position supporting industrial / manufacturing operations; 2 years’ experience delivering Software as a Service with a strong portfolio showcasing hardware and software projects; 2 years’ project management experience with emphasis on discovery, analysis, proposal, logistics coordination and commitment to communication throughout; professional experience working on a team of highly skilled individuals
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent degree
  • Computer Skills: Experience working with MS Office; ability to learn new software; ability to decide which products to focus on and how best to reach customers; experience integrating software solutions with Plex and/or other SCADA software; proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, C , JavaScript, etc.; familiarity with software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git); knowledge of database systems and SQL queries
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed; ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service; strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and tackle complex technical challenges
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal communications, problem solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills; ability to engage with customer from inception through retention throughout the project life cycle

Qualifications we prefer but don’t require:
  • Work Experience: 10 years’ experience with industrial/manufacturing operations and engineering support; Previous experience with Fiix, FactoryTalk Optix, or other similar software; control system hardware and software design; familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; understanding of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes; personnel management
