After School Activity Specialist (Dance)

This role is part-time, in-person position, working Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 6:30 pm, May - June 2024 and possible additional hours during the summer (July-August) may be offered based on work performance. Activities will be on-site at either of our campuses in Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy-Crown Heights Areas. The hourly rate is $ 23-25/hr based on experience.

The Dance After School Activity Specialist is responsible for Planning and Leading Dance Activities. Developing and implement variety of engaging dance activities for students. Creating lesson plans that are age-appropriate and aligned with the goals of the program. While ensuring the Safety of Students. Other specific duties include offsite collaborations, providing safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment and act as a liaison with parents. This position will ensure adherence to our mission of bringing the best and most trusted education and care services to families we serve.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in dance instruction, preferably in a school or after-school setting.
• Proven ability to teach and choreograph dance routines for students of various ages and skill levels.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school Senior/College Student
• Strong Academic background, comfortable in common core math and sciences
• Bilingual in Spanish or french a plus
• Open to working occasional weekends and/or holidays
• Prior work experience with elementary school and middle school students
• Can provide references upon request
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office setting
• Ability to follow directions and meet necessary deadlines
• Take excellent initiative and follow through
• Responsible, punctual, and dependable
• Strong knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Experience teaching or coaching chess to students of various ages and skill levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and parents.
• Ability to create and implement engaging and age-appropriate dance activities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and coordinate activities.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching dance to children.
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
• Background check and fingerprinting may be required.

• Plan and lead dance classes for students in an after-school program.
• Teach various dance styles and techniques, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary.
• Create lesson plans and develop curriculum to ensure a well-rounded dance education.
• Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their dance skills.
• Organize and coordinate dance performances and recitals to showcase students' progress.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for students to learn and express themselves through dance.
• Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement engaging activities and events for students.
• Communicate with parents and guardians to provide updates on students' progress and address any concerns or questions.
• Stay informed about current trends and developments in the field of dance education.
• Assist with the completion of student homework
• Maintain safety and supervision of all students
• Ensure classroom cleanliness at all times
• Assist with pick up and drop protocols
• Must communicate effectively and clearly
• Perform any other related duties as instructor by a site supervisor
• Maintain student files and programmatic documents
