Position Overview:

As a Middle School English Language Arts teacher at Jones Gordon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic journey of middle school students in a small 1:12 classroom setting. You will have the opportunity to create engaging lessons and help students develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills while fostering a love for literature and language

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive and challenging English language arts curriculum that aligns with school guidelines and objectives.
  • Integrate diverse literary works, writing exercises, and critical analysis to inspire a love for literature and language.
  • Deliver engaging and student-centered lessons that promote active participation and critical thinking.
  • Foster effective communication skills, both written and verbal, through a variety of instructional methods.
  • Develop and administer assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to support academic growth.
  • Identify and address the unique learning needs of individual students, offering additional support or challenges as necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to implement strategies for students with diverse needs.
  • Incorporate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences and prepare students for the digital age.
  • Stay informed about educational technology trends and tools.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and active engagement.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to create an optimal learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and meetings as needed.
  • Participate in school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and clubs that contribute to the overall development of students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card can be in process at the time of hire
  • Previous teaching experience preferred, preferably in a middle school setting
  • Strong curriculum development and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching and learning activities.
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Enthusiasm for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 - $61,450.00 per year
