.Middle Grades (6-7) English Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher

Position Start Date: August 1, 2024

Position Summary: The John Crosland School is currently seeking a vibrant well-rounded Middle School Teacher with content knowledge in ELA and Social Studies. Our ideal candidate will possess a knowledge base and passion for teaching students with learning differences and be able to organize and implement an instructional program that will capitalize on student strengths and be in accordance with our mission.

Responsibilities:

• Teach 6th and 7th Grade ELA and Social Studies classes to students with learning differences.
• Plan and implement curriculum
• Integrate technology into the curriculum
• Maintain grades via Blackbaud platform.
• Regularly update and post grades to the online Blackbaud platform.
• House assignments in Blackbaud and have open communication with parents regarding student performance.
• Use behavior management systems that are effective with students with learning differences
• Provide a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning
• Communicate on a regular basis with division director to discuss student progress (parent communications/maintaining positive relationships with families)
• Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers and the community
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education or related field in ELA and/or Social Studies)
• Teaching credential preferred
• Strong desire to teach students with learning differences
• Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching methodologies
• Experience with technology
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Desire to continue to develop professionally by learning new programs and methodologies and curriculum
