How you can make a bigger difference:
The Corporate Compliance department supports the Agency in maintaining compliance in all areas of operations. The department focuses on promoting a culture of compliance, preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse, and educating staff on their rights to report suspected non-compliance. The Corporate Compliance function ensures Agency adherence to applicable laws, policies and procedures, regulations, standards and the Code of Conduct. The LPN Compliance Coordinator role is a hybrid role and requires some in-person work (i.e., investigations, audits and team meetings). This role also works in collaboration with the Quality & Transformation department.
Some responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Conducts Corporate Compliance audits of resident health and medical care in accordance with Compliance OPWDD audit plan
  • Review nursing assessment plans of nursing, physical health needs, referrals, medication administration practices in accordance with OPWDD standards of care
  • Manages and tracks all regulatory corrective actions and implementation, including collaborating with program staff to develop plans of corrective action (POCA's) in response to audits and allegations, managing tracking databases and analyzing the data for trends and reporting in OPWDD funded programs
  • Support agency staff in interpreting OPWDD, DOH and Justice Center regulations
  • Support and lead continuous quality improvement projects as assigned, using Lean Six Sigma tools/concepts
  • Identify opportunities for improvement using a data-informed approach
  • Other duties as assigned
TO QUALIFY:
  • Experience in working with electronic medical records
  • Prior experience in program auditing preferred.
  • Prior experience in interpretation of regulation and/or policy development and implementation preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to attend Agency meetings, held during business hours.
  • Must be able to be flexible for investigations and able to travel to sites as needed.
  • Experience using Lean Six Sigma tools and concepts for Quality Improvement
EDUCATION / TRAINING PREFERRED:
  • LPN in nursing and New York State registration as well as at least one year nursing experience
  • Experience in working in In Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) setting
  • Knowledge of OPWDD and DOH regulations.
