Job Description:

The JAAW Group is seeking a talented Technical Writer to join our team and support the drafting of engineering documentation for the Integrated Battle Control Station (IBCS) system. As a Technical Writer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring clear and concise documentation that effectively conveys complex technical information to diverse stakeholders. Your expertise in technical writing and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite will help drive successful software development and deployment.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate closely with engineering, development, and subject matter experts to gather and understand technical information, specific to the Integrated Battle Control Station system.
- Create, revise, and edit a variety of technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, FAQs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system design documentation.
- Develop a deep understanding of the system's technical concepts, features, and functions to accurately communicate complex ideas in an accessible and user-friendly manner.
- Ensure adherence to style guides, industry standards, and company documentation standards to maintain consistency and quality across all engineering documentation.
- Organize and present information effectively, using various mediums (text, diagrams, illustrations, screenshots, etc.) to enhance understanding and ease of use.
- Conduct reviews and collaborate with subject matter experts to validate accuracy and completeness of technical content.
- Continuously improve documentation processes and standards, incorporating feedback from users and stakeholders to enhance the clarity and usability of technical documentation.
- Adapt technical content for different audiences, tailoring documentation based on user needs, experience levels, and technical knowledge.
- Work closely with software developers, engineers, and project managers to ensure documentation aligns with the overall project objectives and timelines.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices for technical writing and documentation tools.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite tools (such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) to create visually appealing diagrams, illustrations, and graphics for technical documentation.
- Collaborate with other technical writers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to gather input, ensure consistency, and improve documentation processes and standards.
- Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, English or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software development environment.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.
- Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite tools (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) to create diagrams, illustrations, and graphics for technical documentation.
- Familiarity with software development processes and terminology, ideally within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics in creating professional-looking technical documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, diagramming software, and version control systems.
- Understanding of information architecture and user-centered design principles.
