Job Title: Family Recovery Clinician
Program/Department: Project Promise
Position Type: Full-Time 40 hours/ week – Hybrid Position (remote and on-site)
Location: Mattapan
Reports to: Clinical Manager; Project Promise
The Institute for Health and Recovery (IHR) is a statewide service, research, policy, program development and capacity building agency. IHR designs its services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma. IHR’s CARF accredited treatment programs provide holistic interventions for hard to reach and high-risk individuals and families. IHR’s mission, since our founding in 1989, has been to develop and support a comprehensive continuum of care for families, individuals, youth, and pregnant and parenting people affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges and other health issues, while advancing principles of health equity and social justice. Our work is focused on addressing and eradicating inequities in our health care, economic, and justice systems, especially as they disproportionately affect women and people of color. We are committed to providing services and creating communities that mitigate the effects of substance use, mental illness, and trauma.
Summary Statement : The Family Recovery Clinician will support Project Promise, an innovative substance use day treatment program, and IHR’s mission to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for pregnant and parenting women. The Family Recovery Clinician will work closely with an interdisciplinary team on all family activities.

Essential Functions:

  • As part of a multidisciplinary team provide trauma-informed, family-centered treatment to pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders
  • Engage clients in a comprehensive assessment process, including strengths, challenges, history (substance use, mental health, and trauma)
  • In partnership with clients, develop individualized family service plans to address substance use, mental health, trauma, relapse prevention, recovery support, and parenting
  • Facilitate treatment and psychoeducation groups around issues of substance use, recovery, trauma, and parenting
  • Provide individual and/or dyadic (parent-child) treatment to address needs and goals identified in service plans
  • Regularly re-assess progress and update treatment plans as needed
  • Coordinate closely with other Project Promise staff
  • Work with collaterals and other professionals involved with client
  • Identify and collaborate with providers of Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) in order to support access to MAT as needed for clients
  • Identify case management needs and work in collaboration with Case Manager to connect families to community resources for recovery support, relapse prevention, and parenting support
  • Maintain all written reports and records (including electronic health records) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Meet regularly with supervisor for clinical and administrative supervision
  • Communicate with IHR’s main office in Watertown with cloud-based shared calendars, timesheets and check in with supervisors.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Clinician(s) with advanced degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
    • Professional clinical license (LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) is strongly preferred;
    • Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural (Spanish/English) candidates preferred.
    • Previous clinical experience in the field of substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health and trauma.
    • Experience within the SUD treatment and child welfare systems preferred.
    • Familiarity with community-based resources to support recovering parents; ability to work effectively with diverse cultural groups.
    • Experience in home-based services, community outreach and case management activities.
    • Good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Strong administrative organization and ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
    • Self-starter with ability to work independently.

      Other Requirements: (If Applicable)

      • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
      • Business Class Rider on Motor Vehicle Insurance, if transporting clients.
      (Reimbursable; required within one month of start of job).
