Summary:

The Pediatrics/Family Nurse Practitioner insures delivery of comprehensive health care in accordance with the philosophy, standard of practice, objectives and policies of The Institute for Family Health. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for diagnosis and treatment of common and chronic illness focusing on health promotion and disease prevention activities including patient education and counseling in the Institute of Family Health.

Requirements:

• Participates in defining, maintaining and interpreting standards of nursing practice in the Institute of Family Health.
• Prescribes medications and treatments
• Collaborates with other members of the team in and school community provision of regular health screening and other health promotion measures
• Participates in special projects
• Participates in committees, as directed by Director of School Based Health Program
• Acts as preceptor for selected students and staff
• Floats to all SBHC sites as needed

Qualifications:

• BSN and MSN Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• License: Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in New York State
• Board Certification: Nurse Practitioner Certification & Registration, certified by recognized specialty organization
• Minimum 2 years or nursing experience and preferred one year as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Demonstrated organizational, clinical, and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to problem solve using critical thinking
• Demonstrated basic computer skills including typing proficiency.
• Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
