Summary

 Directorof Facilities will be responsible for overseeing all things Maintenance, Safety& Security related. This Position must have solid project managementskills, evidence a strong work/ethic, adaptability and flexibility andleadership skills. The Director of Facilities forms part of the HotelLeadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisionsfor The Inn at Little Washington.

 EssentialFunctions:

  • Responsible for all engineering operations for interior/exteriorfacilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting,carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas aswell life/safety of Resort, Resort Guests and Employees.
  • Responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/greeninitiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary tomaintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety andcomfort of guests and employees.
  • Oversee a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialistsresponsible for all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilitiesincluding plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry,structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning,budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy-making, and inventory control whilefocusing on creative cost control to maximize profit in the division and hotel.
  • The ability to be visible in the operation, recognize andmaintain relationships with regular guests as well as cultivate relationshipswith new patrons through effective marketing and personal relationships.
  • Accountable for the security and safety measures throughout theResort. Will need to maintain strategic oversight of every aspect of theResort's physical security and safety for Guests, Employees, Assets andReputation (GEAR) including staffing, budgets, protocols and procedures as wellas crisis management. Will be responsible for managing a health and safetyprogram.
  • Oversees the claims process and protects company assets byclosely monitoring the General Liability and Worker's Compensation cases.
  • Develops and maintains all security cameras equipment, alarmeddoors, and panic / duress alarms to ensure that they are fully functional.
  • Develops and maintains Emergency Plan
  • Creates Safety Committee with Fire Safety, AED and BasicCPR/First Aid training (First Responds Team)
  • Interview, select,review and train new security officers whether full time or under contractaccording to Resort standards. Motivating and developing a skilled team, leadsby example and instills a culture of continuous learning and improvement among employees; actively participates in Employee Relations activities and programs.
  • Displays warmth, careand genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers; livesthe Golden Rule
  • Prepares annual plans,forecasts and managing expenses to meet departmental budgetary goals
  • Ability to assisthotel/Resort staff in handling of unusual guest or employee problems, such as,but not limited to, disorderly conduct, thefts, suicides, bomb threats,employee or guest accidents, fire or safety hazards, robberies, terroristactivities, civil disturbance, power or elevator failures, medical assistanceand natural disasters, fraud & cyber-crime activities and food hygienerisks faced by the hotel/resort.

PreferredQualification and Skills:

  • Five years previous management experience in hotel or buildingengineering maintenance. Previous experience in the US is preferred.
  • Professional degree in an Engineering discipline, trade degreein a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/CivilEngineering) or CEOE – Certified Engineering Operations Executive from theHotel and motel Hospitality Association, Building Owners Management Institution(BOMI) designation, Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facility ManagementAdministrator (FMA) or Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA)
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order toaccomplish all major responsibilities, and be willing to accept assignments onas need basis, in order to promote teamwork. This may include some evenings,weekends and holidays.
  • Assist in developing, managing and operating and capital budgets
  • Develop and implement plans and schedules to achieve company anddepartment goals
  • Develop processes, procedures and standards for the facility’soperational performance
  • Read and understand contract and RFP requirements
  • Create an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual support amongemployees
  • Review work performance of subordinates
  • Manage and maintain thecompletion of the facilities scheduled PM's through the CMMS
  • Assist withenvironmental compliance
  • Assist with thecompliance of local, state, and federal codes
  • Develop, manage andcoordinate all shift schedules including holiday, vacation, sick and emergencycoverages
  • Conduct weekly staffmeetings to discuss facility operations, project status, toolbox safety andother relevant information
  • Review, approve andsubmit weekly time sheets, work order tickets and other required documentation
  • Accurately document workperformed on tickets and/or work orders
  • As required, prepare andsubmit a cost analysis report for contracted work
  • Assist with updating andimplementing HAZCOM and environmental programs
  • Set-up, maintain and usefiling system
  • Perform tool andequipment inventory monthly
  • Maintain skills andknowledge to industry standards
  • Perform annual andsemi-annual performance reviews
  • CFC Universal license (410A)
  • Must have constructionmanagement experience
  • Experience opening a newhotel 
  • Must possess excellentcustomer service skills

Physical Demands

  • Must be available to be on call 24/7
  • Able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds
  • Capable of ascending ladders up to a height of thirty (30) feet
