We are industry experts and we keep our customers moving, on the ground and in the air. We’re currently seeking a Director of Maintenance for our Canadian, US and Europe operations. In this position, you would be responsible for managing the maintenance program for the three companies making up the Inland Group of Companies, ensuring the maintenance program is being followed and addressing any gaps in adherence. This position will support the planning, management and execution of maintenance activities with the objective of enhancing profitability productivity and efficiency, meeting schedules and safety standards. Our three brands include:
  • Inland Technologies – Spent aircraft deicing fluid recovery, management, and recycling; equipment design and manufacturing; into-plane fueling and fuel farm management; Inland Fluids: Type 1 (EG) and lavatory fluid manufacturing.
  • IDS (Integrated Deicing Services) – Aircraft deicing and anti-icing; centralized deicing facility management; fluid inventory management.
  • Quantem Aviation Services – mail handling, cargo warehousing, ramp handling, terminal services, lavatory services, GSE/fuel supply maintenance
As the ideal candidate, you will bring the following skills and experience to this role:
  • Engineering degree or a combination of experience and post-secondary education
  • 10 years of management experience in a dynamic operations environment.
  • 10 years of airport and/or GSE maintenance experience.
  • Experience with managing multi-site operations across North America.
  • Excellence in troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and an aptitude to quickly learn new software.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to proactively motivate and manage a safety and respectful workplace culture in alignment with our Company mission.
  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change in order to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers.
While the full job description is available upon request, the most essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:
  • Deliver on the current and future maintenance needs to support the Inland Group of Companies equipment and systems used in recovery, recycling, de-icing and ground handling services;
  • Maintain the internal knowledge base of industry code and standards, both general and related to the individual field of expertise, along with the responsibility of translating this knowledge to the team, and ensuring the team apply the standards and codes appropriately;
  • Ensure the maintenance department is focused on achieving optimal equipment service, conducts regular equipment checks, maintains essential and up-to-date recordkeeping and is capable of utilizing their equipment to maximum potential;
  • Develop goals and objectives for the maintenance department and employees that are:
    • Set in accordance with operational objectives;
    • Effectively communicated to all personnel;
    • Met efficiently and within approved budgets and schedules.
  • Responsible for managing the CMMS program to ensure optimal functionality in order to meet company objectives. This includes managing the CMMS process to administer our maintenance program across the group of companies;
  • Responsible for staffing, training and development of employees including performance management, team leadership, succession planning, conducting interviews, and employee relations;
  • Participate and exchange ideas in meetings and conference calls with Regional Maintenance Managers, Maintenance Supervisors and Mechanics. Review and make recommendations for preventing further occurrences. Keep the VP Engineering and Maintenance informed of new developments;
  • Audit and maintain that all station activities are conducted to guarantee the highest level of employee and equipment safety for protection of assets, sustaining regulatory compliance and support company mission, values and purpose;
  • Using financial capabilities, drafting budgets, tracking individual station financials to targets and meeting financial goals;
  • Provide leadership, development, and effective performance management to station management ensuring practices and procedures are consistent and efficient;
  • Partnering with support functions including Fluids Division, EHS, Human Resources, Engineering and Maintenance, Total Quality, and Finance and Procurement when situations occur;
