PORTIA BELL HUME BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND TRAINING CENTER (aka The Hume Center) has a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Clinical Supervisorunder the leadership of The Hume Center’s Clinical Program Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to help our organization to grow by continuing to develop this department.

MISSION: The Hume Center strives to create an environment of psychological well-being both internally for our work community and externally for the community we serve, with special consideration for the under- and un-served, through practicing an enabling consultation process. We believe in serving our community through strengthening existing and developing new resources; providing the highest caliber of culturally sensitive behavioral health services, professional training, and clinical research; and focusing on consistent improvement through outcomes, data-based quality assurance, and program evaluation.

MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy or Social Work.
  2. Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist or LCSW in the State of California through the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  3. Four years’ clinical experience providing therapy services.
  4. Two years’ experience at The Hume Center, strongly preferred.
  5. At least one year of functional supervision experience.
  6. Demonstrate flexibility to handle organizational needs.
  7. Must be willing to work full-time, minimum 40 hours/week, five days a week, and be present at The Hume Center.
  8. Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends when needed.
  9. Demonstrate primary professional commitment and knowledge for representation of The Hume Center.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  11. Possess a valid California Driver’s license. Must be willing to use own vehicle and valid car insurance for work related travel.
  12. Be willing to use own cell phone to be accessible and willing to be available to receive calls for crisis and/or emergency situations.
  13. Preferred proficiency in communication in any one or more of the following languages in addition to English: Spanish, Farsi, (Pushto/Dari), Punjabi, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Cantonese, Mandarin, and/or Vietnamese.
  14. Familiar with and/or able to work within the Family Partner and Consumer Empowerment shift.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

Provide leadership to create a supportive work environment, enable the staff and trainees so that they can learn to enable their consultees, clients and their families. To be able to carry out the following: Program training, clinical supervision and clinical responsibilities by participating in the assurance of the smooth running of assigned Program according to the highest level of care, ethical and professional standards, as well as performing direct clinical services for the purposes of maintaining your own caseload and for adherence to Incident to standards as a Training Site, and maintaining compliance of contract expectations and regulations.

SUPERVISIORY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISORY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    1. Demonstrate an understanding of The Hume Center’s Philosophy, Organizational Culture, and Organizational Channels of Communication through practicing an enabling model of working together.
    2. Knowledge of new and updated requirements of all relevant professional State Board regulations, procedures and forms.
    3. Complete required continuing education units to ensure active and positive professional practice license status.
    4. Collaborate with Department Manager, Program Managers, and other Supervisors.
    5. Participate in recruitment and utilization of staff and trainees.
    6. Orient staff and trainees to clinical and program procedures.
    7. Complete performance evaluations of supervisees. Identify professional needs and develop and implement a professional development plan.
    8. Assign and review clinical cases with staff and trainees and ensure they are productively fulfilling work assignments including meeting minimum number of direct service hours.
    9. Ensure review and completion of relevant information and forms related to professional State Board requirements with assigned supervisees.
    10. Ensure trainees complete training requirements including meeting the required number of supervision and didactic hours and training contract expectations.
    11. Review and sign staff case records, including intakes, clinical progress notes, and discharge summaries.
    12. Fulfill assignment as Supervisor of the Day and provide licensed back-up to other programs with the Department and agency.
    13. Provide back-up for Supervisors if they are unavailable.
    14. Participate in weekly Supervisor’s peer consultation meetings
    15. Meet with assigned Supervisor on a weekly basis for individual supervision.
    16. Attend other required meetings.
    17. Fulfill additional clinical supervision responsibilities, as needed.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISORY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    1. Theory and Practice a Public Health model of providing community mental health service.
    2. Theory and Practice Mental health consultation.
    3. Develop peer consultation mental health education groups.
    4. Conduct organizational development consultation.
    5. Engage in community organization for mental health.
    6. Provide weekly individual supervision to staff placed in program(s).
    7. Practice enabling process of supervision.
    8. Facilitate a peer consultation support group.
    9. Consult with staff and trainees on clinical and program matters as the need arises.
    10. Organize and facilitate interactive didactic seminars relevant to the scope of The Hume Center’s program(s).
    11. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in clinical assessment.
    12. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in clinical services across ages: Individual, group, child play, couples and family therapies with older adults, adults, children and/or youth.
    13. Demonstrate understanding in working effectively with culturally, socio-economically, and ethnically diverse populations.
    14. Demonstrate understanding of alcohol and other drug addiction and recovery.
    15. Demonstrate understanding of resiliency, recovery and wellness approaches.
    16. Participate in quality assurance processes within the program and department and ensure all documentation of assigned supervisees meets all relevant internal and external standards.

DIRECT CLINICAL SERVICES:

    1. Provide comprehensive clinical services in service program(s), included, but not limited to, intake, assessment, therapy, case management, crisis intervention, consultation.
    2. Complete case records, including intakes, clinical progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries, etc.
    3. Collaborate and/or consult with 3rd parties in client cases.
    4. Participate in program development, implementation and evaluation.
    5. Participate in clinical case consultation.
    6. Fulfill additional clinical responsibilities as needed.

OTHER:

Fulfill any additional duties specified by assigned Supervisor and/or the President/CEO.
