SUMMARY

The Emergency Department Technician performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the R.N. in charge of the team or Charge RN in charge of the unit. May assist the nurse in transporting patients, medications/blood products to and from the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

• Technical or Vocational training.
• EMT Trained or Army Trained Medical Specialist with one year of experience preferred in Emergency Department but may be other clinical units upon discretion.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Current BLS for health care providers

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills. Ability to use computer driven patient care equipment.
• CPI training within 6 months of employment required
