SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES:

Establish and maintain a school environment that supports our diverse student body. Facilitate school-wide effort to implement restorative justice practices, increase opportunities for student leadership and social emotional supports and decrease students’ negative behaviors, chronic tardiness and absenteeism.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in ensuring that students, families, and staff feel welcome in the school
  • Implement and monitor restorative justice practices throughout the school
  • Develop and facilitate staff trainings on student-teacher relationships, restorative justice, classroom management and school culture
  • Coordinate and support the development and implementation of students support and interventions as related to behavior and social emotional issues
  • Develop and implement the coordination of a proactive school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences
  • Play an active role in coordinating school partnerships to increase student engagement and success
  • Collaborate with school social worker and behavior specialists on a regular basis
  • Ability to create the conditions for and encourage youth/adult partnership, multicultural traditions, and student-centered practices throughout the school community
  • Organize school events, school-wide meetings and town hall meetings that encourage community connection and investment in school culture
  • Serve as a liaison to families and facilitate parent education in support of school culture practices and policies
  • Conduct regular school culture walk throughs to help staff maintain high expectations for themselves and excellence in behavior and academics for students
  • Accurately monitor and analyze daily student attendance and discipline records
  • Assist in the coordination and support for home visits
  • Make personal contacts with families for a variety of reasons and through a variety of modalities (electronic, face-to-face, etc.)
  • Meets deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for writing, review, approval, and transmittal of necessary information
  • Performs all other duties as directed by head of school or superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication
  • Effective planning and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and deadline-oriented

  • Proficient technological skills for platforms such as but not limited to MS Word, Zoom, Google Classroom, etc. 

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Extensive knowledge of restorative justice and community building practices
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle

PROFESSIONAL AND LEGAL STANDARDS

  • Models the school’s values of respect, compassion, integrity, inclusivity and excellence in all actions and communications
  • Accesses student records as needed and with authorization from head of school
  • Uses and discloses PHI only as authorized, as necessary to carry out job duties
  • Completes and maintains privacy and security training
  • Reports suspected violations, including those of a colleague
  • Maintains professionalism in/outside of school

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment and physical requirements consistent with those of a typical school/office environment
  • Ability and work at family events and activities scheduled in the evenings
  • Be able to sit, stand, and walk continuously during the workday.
  • Use of computer 30-50%
  • Ability to drive and walk throughout community and into students’ homes as needed
