Position Description:

The Hockaday School is seeking a Database Analyst / Blackbaud application administrator with extensive Blackbaud experience who will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of all internal Hockaday databases and other systems that store user data. The successful candidate will also be involved as a project manager in the planning, creation, and development of databases as needed, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. This person will also provide support on various software platforms from SaaS platforms to helping individual faculty and staff in the course and user provisioning. This includes monitoring and creating appropriate access levels for end-users and troubleshooting with 3rd party vendors. As part of the tech team, they will lead projects that are related to data analyst; PowerBi, Data driven dashboads. The will also provide some help desk support as needed.

Essential Functions:

· Understand the needs of users and work collaboratively to establish consistent procedures and data standards

· Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to users

· Assess the integrity of the existing databases

· Lead any database migrations between platforms or versions

· Work collaboratively with the IT team to ensure the security, safety, and consistency of all databases

· Install and update existing Hockaday databases

· Lead ad hoc teams and projects as needed

· Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions

· Control access permissions and privileges

· Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans

· Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly

· Perform capacity planning

· Communicate regularly with the Director of Technology and Information Resources, the Technology Staff, and contract workers to ensure database integrity and security

· Advise the Assistant Director of Technology about installing new applications and customizing existing applications as needed

· Assist other departments with special projects, as required

· Lead the processes for Staff Onboarding/Offboarding (I.e., creation of all accounts and permissions through all systems of the school)

· Manage the onboarding and implementation of edtech/teacher software regarding the course and user provisioning and staff training

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

· Experience as a Database Administrator for over 5 years, Blackbaud experience preferred

· Extensive experience with database creation, optimization, migration, and disaster recovery

· Substantial project and team management experience

· Ability to create and deploy custom, web-enabled databases

· Strong background with SQL

· Experience with the presentation of data via PowerBi and Data driven dashboards

· Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS (Managed Internet Service) field required

· Master’s degree in Computer Science or MIS field preferred

· Must have the ability to work in a school environment through satisfactory completion of all legally required and School-required background and screening checks and verifications, including criminal and sex offender background checks.

Training:

· Participate in all requisite School trainings prior to the start of the school, and throughout the School year.

· Attend required staff development and training sessions throughout the year

· Attend periodic in-service meetings

· Acknowledge receipt of the current Employee Handbook and are responsible for reviewing the contents and abiding by rules, policies and procedures stated in the Handbook or otherwise by the School

· Abide by Hockaday’s Code of Ethics and Conduct

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

· Regularly works in standard office conditions and climate•

· Regularly uses close and distance vision, including working at a computer screen for extended periods of time

· Occasionally required to move around the office and campus and work at a desk for extended periods of time

· Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30 lbs.

· Works in an occasionally stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts

· Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions

· Ability to periodically work flexible hours to support before and after-school or weekends

· Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with students, fellow staff and community members
