The Hiller Companies, a national leader in the fire protection and security industry, is accepting applications for Cost Analyst.

The Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial analysis, monitoring, and reporting of costs associated with the various construction projects for the Amesbury division. The Cost Analyst with work closely with the sales, operations, and finance teams to ensure costs are appropriately allocated throughout each project.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analyze and evaluate the costs associated with each project, including direct and indirect costs, labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
• Collaborate with the sales team to assess contract pricing proposals, evaluate profitability, and provide cost-related insights to support negotiations.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets, ensuring that cost assumptions and projections are accurate and aligned with contractual obligations.
• Monitor and track costs throughout the project lifecycle. Report any concerns regarding compliance with contract terms, cost control, and avoidance of cost overruns to the Project Managers and General Managers.
• Work closely with the finance team to ensure proper revenue recognition for customer contracts, following applicable accounting standards and guidelines.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on a month-end basis to support management decision-making.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in contract cost accounting procedures, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
• Manage and reconcile Petty Cash disbursements.

Qualifications:

• Must have 2 years’ experience in private or public accounting.
• Requires experience with ERP systems, ideally JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
• Experience with percentage of completion job cost accounting and other construction cost accounting principles.

• Solid analytical, accounting, and financial skills. Advanced excel skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, maintaining a high-level of accuracy.
• Effective communication with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain complex financial concepts.
