Job Summary: The BDA Installer will ensure seamless communication within buildings by installing, configuring, and maintaining BDA systems. This role demands technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards. The BDA Installer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to deliver reliable communication solutions.
Pay Range: $21.28/hour to $39.20/hour
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and calibrate BDA systems according to specifications and project requirements. Ensure optimal signal coverage and amplification within buildings to comply with relevant regulations and codes.
  • Proficiently handle BDA systems' cabling, wiring, and connections. Route cables efficiently and securely through buildings, avoiding interference and damage.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of BDA systems to verify proper functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues like signal disruptions, interference, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure seamless integration of BDA systems within the overall building infrastructure. Coordinate work schedules and communicate project progress effectively.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and guidelines during installations, ensuring a secure and hazard-free work environment. Prioritize safety for yourself, team members, and building occupants.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on BDA equipment, including inspections and upgrades. Keep track of inventory and ensure the availability of necessary tools and components.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry standards, codes, BDA systems, and radio frequency communication regulations. Ensure installations meet all compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Degrees in Engineering Technology and/or certifications in telecommunications, manufacturer training for Public Safety BDAs are preferred, or a combination of related education/experience.
  • Vocational training or relevant certifications in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field are a plus.
  • City and County of Denver RES License
  • FCC License (GROL)
  • NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications Technician Level I, II, or III (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to client sites as needed
  • Proven experience installing and configuring BDA systems, preferably in a construction or telecommunications environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Public Safety networks, amplifier/antenna/cable theory, optical transmission, link budgets, and calculating noise levels.
  • Familiarity with cabling, wiring, and signal distribution concepts.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for related equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
