CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT
Well established construction company in growth phase seeking a Construction Superintendent. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Federal construction industry and a strong construction superintendent background with excellent organization and communication skills to interact with customers and senior level management. Must be adept at building productive, lasting, and collaborative relationships with subcontractors and teaming partners.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesManages subcontractors.
Understands scopes of work and project drawings.
Serves as primary interface between the Company and Government’s contracting officer representative (COR)
Ensures project schedule adherence
Must understand the construction submittal process and how to develop submittal registers
Conducts daily quality checks per the Company’s Quality Control Plan to detect deficiencies early
Reports to and supports the Program or Project Manager in ensuring subcontractors are engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to ensure schedule adherence
Supports the Program or Project Manager in managing supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve project issues and improve construction methods
Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
Maintains project files and folders per Company policy
Responsible for project safety
Advises the Program or Project Manager in approving of vendor and subcontractor invoices
Attends pre-bid meetings and job walks
Evaluates project performance to budget
Oversees progress billing for each project each month, billing ahead of cost and ensure client payment
Reviews and approves vendor and subcontractor invoices
Engages members of the organization (Executive, administrative, engineering, cost control, and others)
Must possess tremendous organizational skills
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must communicate clearly and frequently to customers creating and maintaining strong rapport to ensure future work
Education And/Or ExperienceMinimum ten (10) years in Federal Government, (DoD preferred), Construction Project Supervision experience, including Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build IDIQ-type contracts or equivalent work experience
Proficient as a superintendent, Quality Control representative, and/or site safety and health officer (SSHO) and/or the ability to perform all responsibilities simultaneously as a triple-hat supervisor
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent field experience
Proficient in reading and understanding project schedules, blueprints/design documents, specifications, shop drawings, submittal data, etc. using either a MS Project or Primavera format, with specific understanding on trade sequencing and phasing
Proficient With The Following Software ProgramsMS Excel
MS Word
MS Project
Adobe
Outlook
Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1
Familiarity with RMS or online estimating software
CERTIFICATIONS DESIRED
USACE CQM-C (Construction Quality Management for Contractors)
OSHA 30 required
First Aid/CPR required prior to start
Regional travel is anticipated to be 25-50%.
