Title: Digital Fellow, The Daily Signal

Reports to: Managing Editor, The Daily Signal

Job Summary: The Digital Fellow is responsible for developing and promoting content across The Daily Signal’s social media channels. The ideal candidate will pair a journalism background with a strong understanding of and experience in social media, and will create original content, including videos and graphics. This is a one-year fellowship.

Job Duties:

• Executes and implements a social media strategy that optimizes Daily Signal’s reach and influence.
• Clips and produces news soundbite videos for social media.
• Drafts and schedules social media posts for Daily Signal.
• Writes scripts for, appears in, produces, edits, and films short social media videos.
• Works with Marketing team to create original graphics for Daily Signal social media channels and website.
• Collaborates closely with the Digital Productions team to ensure Heritage and Daily Signal social media strategies are supporting each other.
• Produces weekly analytics report on Daily Signal social media performance and regularly recommends concepts to test or try out to maximize audience reach and impact.
• Collaborates closely with the Daily Signal team to ensure timely promotion of content as well as advise on how to maximize content’s social media reach.
• Advises Daily Signal journalists on content creation for social media sites.
• Builds and maintains sharing partnerships with other news sites and conservative organizations.
• Tracks closely what’s buzzing on social media and shares that information with the Daily Signal team.
• Stays current with digital trends and regularly proposes changes to social strategy that reflect those trends.
• Maintains a strong social media presence.
• Represents The Daily Signal at appropriate media conferences and functions.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Past journalism or digital internships and/or college news reporting or digital experience preferred.

Communication: Excellent editing and writing skills

Technology: Microsoft Suite, WordPress, Adobe Suite
