HJF is seeking a Integration Lead to drive successful completion of key deliverables and stated objectives for a single project or multiple non-integrated projects by coordinating and monitoring the status of work performed by technical staff.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

This position will be in support of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Partnerships and Innovations Directorate (DPAA PI). The DPAA is the US Department of Defense Agency responsible for the recovery and identification of fallen US service members from WWII to the gulf war. Its mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting of missing personnel to their families and the nation. To accomplish this, the DPAA sends out organic and partner investigation and recovery missions worldwide, and recovered material is analyzed in the state-of-the-art DPAA laboratory. DPAA expands its recovery and identification capacity and capabilities through various innovation initiatives, and partners with research and academic institutes to address research requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise DPAA’s Partnerships and Innovation (PI) Directorate’s leadership by establishing, monitoring, and coordinating the activities of a directorate sub-team.
  • Work directly with counterparts in other PI programs and PI leadership to formulate informed annual plans for integration-related initiatives and activities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on DPAA’s integration programing and processes, assisting and enabling the involvement of personnel across the Agency.
  • Draw upon subject matter expertise to assist with the consideration, planning, implementation, and assessment of integration studies that contribute to Agency’s mission.
  • Educate and mentor other team members on program and process requirements for successful performance of duties, ensuring thorough coordination and integration of programming across the personnel accounting enterprise.
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of Agency specific scientific and research-related protocols and procedures that ensure compliance with all Agency requirements for reporting and coordination of all plans and results through all appropriate channels.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Life Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Anthropology/Archaeology, or related field. Master's Degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of DPAA research, investigation, and laboratory requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant quality system standards, practices, and tools and demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating, and incorporating quality assurance solutions for an organization’s activities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DPAA’s partner mission program areas (innovation, research, terrestrial and underwater archaeology, plans and assessments, partner development, and integration).
  • Experience with STEM, interdisciplinary engagement, and innovation collaboration methods and programs.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated history of initiative and achievement.
  • Demonstrated history of working independently with client staff.
  • Experience working independently with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Experience mentoring other team members.
  • Experience supporting and anticipating client needs and demonstrating problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing tasks under tight deadlines and managing shifting priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Incumbent must be capable of working in stressful situations with short deadlines.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
