Opening in July of 2024, The Heartwood at Vassar will include 50 guest rooms to accommodate both visitors to Vassar as well as area visitors. Vassar families and alums will also enjoy the benefit of staying on campus with proximity to downtown Poughkeepsie to help support community businesses and connect the campus to the downtown Poughkeepsie and the greater Hudson Valley region. The property will also feature an 86 seat restaurant, The Salt Line, and Night Owls Bar. Above the restaurant will be meeting space for use by the college and the outside business community. Our kitchen will be solely electric powered which offers an exciting and innovative approach to sustainability.
This position’s primary job duties are to oversee the safe and efficient operation of the restaurant and other outlets where applicable (may include Lounge, Room Service, banquets). This manager supervises a staff that consistently provides excellent guest service while promoting profitability for the hotel.
Effective listening and communication, initiative, ability to work independently and in teams, and the ability to lead by example are necessary skills. You must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion, display effective problem-solving skills, and provide excellent customer service.

Benefits and pay range:
· Salary range of $65,000-$68,000 a year

Technical Skills:
Must have strong dining service & bar skills.
Beverage cost analysis, i.e., knowledge of ordering, inventories, labor control
Thorough knowledge and understanding of kitchen equipment use and operation
Must have previous experience as at least a Food & Beverage Supervisor or Restaurant Manager at a full service establishment.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of restaurant service
High aptitude in working with numbers and able to efficiently use a calculator
Experience / Education:
Minimum 2 years’ of supervisory customer service experience with at least 1 year of full-service dining experience; management experience preferred; high school diploma and/or equivalent work experience
