The Hearthstone is Hiring a Resident Engagement Director Near Seattle, WA

Job Description

The Resident Engagement Director is responsible for organizing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the Resident Engagement program to meet the recreational, intellectual, and social needs of all residents.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Human Services or Recreational Therapy; at least three years of relevant experience that includes management or supervisory experience; strong communication and interpersonal skills; and good computer skills, including the ability to effectively utilize basic software, e-mail, and interactive technology programs to enhance the quality of life for residents. Candidates must have a working knowledge of capital and operational budgets and must be able to successfully manage and supervise staff. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications a plus.

  • Using resident interests and preferences and focused on the Hearthstone philosophy of Service, design programming for the community to engage all residents in some aspect of program.
  • Build a comprehensive calendar which addresses the physical, cognitive, social and spiritual/creative needs of all residents in the community. Look at yearly as well as monthly calendar events.
  • Enlist and support “resident–led” programming where appropriate.
  • Ensure seven day/week programming is provided throughout the day both inside and going out of the community.
  • Coordinate all out-of-community programs with the Transportation Department.
  • Ensure calendars are coordinated and shared with residents throughout the community and uploaded to the Hearthstone website as well as shared with all staff.
  • Facilitate programming by engaging all residents present to their highest potential.
  • Utilize “person centered” skills to engage residents.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of program and revise as needed.
  • Be available to respond to general questions from staff, residents and guests
  • Be familiar with computer input for completion of Resident Engagement portion of MDS within 5 days of admission and as required by regulation thereafter.
  • Document each significant interaction with a resident or resident’s significant other in that person’s medical records in a timely manner.
  • Attend Resident Care Conferences and provide quarterly summary of resident’s progress toward care plan goals.
  • Work with the nursing department to develop new programs or services within the department to meet emerging needs of residents.
  • Prepare and maintain the Resident Engagement budget.
  • Maintain and construct written policies and procedures to meet Federal and State regulations.
  • Hire and replace staff.
  • Coordinate staff performance per policy.
  • Coordinate/provide orientation and continuing education.
  • Coordinate scheduling of staff to meet care requirements and budgetary responsibility.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and encourage demonstrations of best practices, discussion of special topics and planning future programs


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff
  • Three years of relevant experience required
  • Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress.
