The Hartford Insurance is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President – Strategy and Transformation Officer leader to join Property & Casualty Technology organization. This is a key cross-functional management role that is focused on pivotal Tech Strategy, Governance, Budgeting, Audit & Compliance, and execution of enterprise portfolio management through demand management, resource management and financial management. Reporting to the CIO of P&C Technology Leader, this role will play a critical part in leading P&C IT’s transformation to a strong business-oriented and technology lead function with – a clear strategic vision, recognized delivery excellence, sound lean portfolio management discipline with tight alignment to business’ strategic and operational goals.
A key success responsibility will be driving operational focus demonstrating that technology is progressing its strategic roadmap through governance, planning, organizational processes, controls, and lean portfolio management. Key outcomes would include strengthening business engagement alignment, improving delivery predictability and agility in partnership with P&C IT Delivery leaders.
The team is looking for strategic leader with a global mindset and unique combination of skills: strong business acumen with experience running transformative change programs, Agile subject matter expertise, ability to drive and own business relationships, a strategic and technical mindset as well as the ability to influence cross-functionally.

  • Has demonstrated track record of driving organizational and operational transformation.
  • Can shape and progress enterprise and strategy and are well versed in a broad array of technology capabilities, with ability to help IT leaders envision how they can achieve operational excellence.
  • Is well versed in core operational disciplines (e.g., project management, financial management, resource planning, audit & compliance etc.) foundational to running an effective technology operation.
  • Understands and evolves technology operating model inclusive of contemporary and traditional technology delivery models, sourcing, and tooling.
  • You understand leadership and strategy required to modernize delivery methods, include Agile. You can envision success and take ownership of maturing our delivery capability.
What You’ll Do:
You will partner closely with senior leaders in P&C IT in evolving technology vision, multi-year strategy and direction for IT.
Primary responsibilities are:
  • Shaping Annual Planning and Budgeting vis-a-vis 3-year plans for Investment Demand.
  • Maintaining financial and budgeting discipline.
  • Executing and monitoring roadmap progress against IT Strategy, organizational objectives and life cycle of investments and initiatives.
  • Leading and planning investment portfolio and prioritization while driving corrective actions to ensure key outcomes through multiple levels of governance (program, divisional and executive)
  • Evolving from transactional project staffing and project execution to scaling a strategic portfolio management capability across P&C lines-of-business
  • Driving the implementation of critical processes as part of enhancing “building” and “running” IT
  • Partnering with transformation office and senior IT leaders, reporting to the CIO, to drive continuous improvement across technology.
  • Guide an effective agile transformation across P&C lines of business by understanding the need from a broader business perspective that provides for a well-integrated approach to achieving business and operational excellence.
  • Establish organizational communication and feedback channels as part of healthy organizational change management; ensure transparency, awareness, knowledge, adoption, and recognition moments are occurring.
  • Partner with Leadership Team to drive out interconnected priorities – e.g., agile transition, management portfolio, workforce location strategy, talent management & sourcing optimization.

This role is based in one of the following office locations: Hartford, CT, Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday in the office).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$180,000 - $270,000
