The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is Hiring a Registered Dietician (Part-Time) Near Houston, TX

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Registered Dietician Part time to join our Early Childhood Intervention team. The ideal candidate will provide initial evaluations and reassessments of child development and nutritional services to infants and toddlers 0-3 years old. These services include nutritional assessments to develop and coordinate nutritional programs, intervention and service coordination. Requires travel to child’s home or other community site and flexible working hours.

Your role in action:

  • Assesses development for initial and annual eligibility.
  • Reassesses development and ongoing progress in order to meet child and family needs
  • Develops initial Individual Family Service Plans [IFSP] with team members including the family.
  • Reviews IFSPs every 6 months and annually
  • Documents every contact and attempts to contact families electronically.
  • Submits electronic documentation according to agency policy.
  • Meets requirements to comply with ECI procedural safeguards and confidentiality.
  • Meets ECI and agency required training policies.
  • Meets requirements to renew license to provide nutrition services.
  • Assesses nutritional needs through observations, examinations of medical records, consultations with team members and families.
  • Reassesses nutritional status at least every 6 months and updates recommended frequency as needed.
  • Consults with staff on an ongoing basis to update them on current nutrition issues for children 0-3 years old and to provide resource material on nutrition topics.
  • Develops and revises materials for nutrition education for staff and families.
  • Coordinates with local doctors, hospitals and clinics to obtain diet orders, lab reports, and growth parameters to complete nutrition evaluations.
  • Obtains and evaluates drug/nutrient interactions and counsel consumers and their families on appropriate diet supplements, allowances and/or restrictions.
  • Recommends nutritional supplements and/or formulas to meet the needs of children with special diet orders.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience in nutritional assessment and development/analysis for children 0-3 years old preferred.

Other Key Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietician with the American Dietetic Association in food and nutrition, food technology or related area.
  • Licensure as a Registered Dietician by the State of Texas required.

  • Must have well developed interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills and be a team
