The Hampton Roads Connector is Hiring an Interior Structures Foreman Near Norfolk, VA

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados, VINCI, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3bn Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.

SUMMARY

As a Foreman, you will direct and lead a crew of hourly project workers and manage all aspects of subcontractors and their crew's work including safety, planning, production and monitoring performance (for the yard and warehouse).

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete company required or regulatory documents such as DRA, JHA, Weekly Jobsite Inspection sheet, timesheets, etc.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach craft personnel as it relates to company policies and procedures and work requirements.
  • Direct work of assigned crew to meet daily schedule.
  • Understand production schedule and adjust daily work to meet schedule.
  • Oversee the reception of the Conveyor belt system.
  • Perform daily forecast of crew cost and production rate and report to management as required.
  • Perform on-site coordination of manpower, materials and equipment.
  • Perform fleet administration duties and request materials/supplies needed for scope of work.
  • Read, understand and interpret plans and specifications as required and check work according to specifications.
  • Maintain high level of safety and adherence to all safety policies and procedures for craft personnel and subcontractors.
  • Ensures workers are fully qualified to perform assigned duties.
  • Knowledge and understanding of prevailing wage rules.
  • Coordinate sub-contractors onsite.
  • Support published corporate policies.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed and per management’s direction.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Equipment management experience highly desired.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
  • Experience managing subcontractors preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability and willingness to work weekends and night shifts per business needs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA.
  • Compliance with all OSHA regulations.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass drug screen.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in heavy civil construction projects.
  • Candidates with High School Diploma are preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate with others to convey information effectively.
  • Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Must demonstrate attention to details.
