School psychologists/Counselors provide mandated counseling services by working in a small group or one-to-one with students. The school psychologist is the case manager for all students seen individually on their caseload. School psychologists/counselors are expected to work collaboratively and cooperatively with classroom teachers, special area teachers, and parents to ensure student success. They must address students’ emotional needs and design approaches to help students chart a course for their lives and careers beyond school. The school psychologist’s/counselor’s work at the school level includes interpreting cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests, creating, maintaining and interpreting student records, and assisting the school principal and school psychiatrist in identifying and resolving student needs, issues, and problems.
All behaviors and matters related to the Hallen students’ behavior and progress are confidential and protected under the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and may only be shared with the classroom teacher and appropriate therapists with administration approval.
