The Hackensack Golf Club is Hiring a Private Golf Club CFO Near Emerson, NJ

Position Summary: Chief Financial Officer

The CFO develops policies to control and coordinate accounting, and related activities and records; develops, establishes and administers procedures and systems pertaining to financial and administrative matters; prepares annual operating and capital budgets, financial statements, forecasts and analyses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies and procedures to safeguard Club assets, assure that records are accurately maintained and that established policies and practices are satisfactorily and consistently followed.
  • Prepare Club’s annual operating and capital budgets and financial forecasts in coordination with various departments including monthly analysis of actual to budget variances
  • Prepare, verify and disseminate on a timely basis monthly Club financial statement, supporting schedules, statistical and variance analyses and accounting reports as necessary and appropriate for Club management.
  • Monitor Club operating expenditures and advise management about variances relative to the budget and financial aspects of their areas.
  • Direct, participate in and verify the taking of various inventories for beverages, food, supplies, merchandise, equipment, furnishings, etc. Approve inventory work sheets and spot check cross checked prices.
  • Ensure all cash and receipts are collected and proper bank deposits are made. Perform daily reconciliation of point-of-sale revenues, cost of goods sold, cash and charge receipts. Reconcile bank statements.
  • Track and analyze Club operating and capital cash flows and prepare and deliver supporting reports appropriate for club management.
  • Track and analyze Club capital expenditures and ensure controls in place to ensure expenditures are authorized by Board of Trustees.
  • On no less than a quarterly basis and more frequently as necessary, analyze Club debt facilities including compliance with covenants and other terms and conditions as appropriate and deliver supporting reports appropriate for Club management.
  • Manage the petty cash and operating cash account.
  • Work with external auditors to assure that procedures are consistent with company policies and provide external auditors with data required to complete the annual audit of the Club financial statements efficiently and effectively on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of applicable federal, state and local tax returns.
  • Ensure that all insurance policies, business licenses, liquor licenses, certificates of operation, and appropriate records are current and properly maintained.
  • Oversees employee documentation, benefit administration and payroll functions
  • Effectively interact in a positive and professional manner and maintain harmonious relationships with members, municipal officials, community organizations, and fellow co-workers.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • College degree with accounting and/or finance emphasis preferred.
  • 5 years accounting and/or financial control experience and supervisory and/or management experience, with private Club experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated capability with budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of retirement plans.
  • Experience utilizing information technology and club operating platforms to support and analyze Club financial condition, including development of reporting packages to be provided to managers and Board of Trustees
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $158,487.00 - $174,934.00 per year
