For a position to begin in August of 2024, GVS is seeking a lower school teacher (Grade 2, 3 or 4) who will be an enthusiastic member of the Green Vale community. All teachers are charged with ensuring that programming reflects and aligns with The Green Vale School’s mission, values, and culture.

Position Description

Qualified candidates will possess 3-5 years of experience in classroom teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Green Vale seeks candidates who are skilled, creative, innovative, and adept at employing technology in the classroom. Effective writing and speaking skills, a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.

Essential Requirements:

• Three to five years of experience as a lead teacher
• Degree in education
• Commitment to and knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Effective classroom management skills
• A collaborative team player
• Well-honed communication skills with both adults and children

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Connects with students and creates a culture of respect and warmth
• Expertise in elementary education, including best practices
• Experience with Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshops and Fundations
• Demonstrates a growth mindset with interest in 21st-century teaching
• Knowledge of current trends and research in learning and assessment

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
