My client, established in 2012, is a forward-thinking asset management firm specializing in the energy sector. Their mission is to provide cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions while maintaining a net-zero carbon footprint through our private funds, public advocacy, and carbon investment initiatives. Unlike conventional private equity firms, we directly invest in energy assets, utilizing our team's expertise in innovation, geological assessment, and land procurement.

Position Summary:

They are seeking a proficient Carbon Management Permitting Specialist with expertise in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) initiatives to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in navigating regulatory frameworks, conducting feasibility studies, and contributing to the permitting process for CCUS projects.

Responsibilities:

Apply CCUS expertise to support carbon management workflows, including project assessment, feasibility studies, and integrating CCUS into the economic value chain.

Assist in preparing and submitting permits, with a focus on EPA Class VI permits for underground injection control (UIC), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, including EPA MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification).

Engage with state and federal agencies such as the EPA, TX RRC (Railroad Commission), LA DNR (Department of Natural Resources), WY DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality), etc., to facilitate permitting processes and address regulatory inquiries.

Analyze subsurface data to evaluate geological formations for carbon storage suitability, contributing to the technical evaluation of potential injection sites.

Utilize geospatial data and tools like ArcGIS to analyze and visualize spatial information relevant to carbon management and permitting activities.

Preferably proficient in geological software packages like Kingdom, Petra, or Petrel to support geological assessments and modeling for CCUS projects.

Demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative mindset, actively contributing to team efforts and fostering innovation and excellence.

Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

2 years of experience in a subsurface role, focusing on permitting and regulatory compliance. CCS experience is advantageous.

Familiarity with carbon management workflows, including feasibility studies and economic analysis of CCUS projects.

Knowledge of UIC permitting processes, particularly EPA Class VI permits, and EPA MRV requirements.

Proficient in working with subsurface data and evaluating geological formations for carbon storage suitability.

Experience interfacing with state and federal regulatory agencies involved in overseeing CCUS projects.

Proficiency in geospatial data analysis using tools like ArcGIS.

Preferred experience with geological software packages like Kingdom, Petra, or Petrel.

Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify and pursue innovative opportunities.
