Education Director – Childcare/Preschool Facility OVERVIEW: An industry-leading childcare and private preschool is seeking an Education Director for an established school in the State College, PA area. The brand has been a trusted name among parents and families for more than 25 years. This is a leadership position that reports directly to ownership with significant influence on school policies and procedures and will work together with ownership to ensure children and their families feel known and appreciated for their individual gifts and personalities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Run health and safety programs including conducting disaster drills, planning First-Aid, CPR, and other training, implementing a health program, and conducting emergency preparedness training.

Oversee the operation of the school including conducting classroom ratio checks, classroom and faculty scheduling, operating the school within budget, developing and implementing a transition system, and achieving all QA Standards.

Comply with all licensing requirements and cultivate positive relationships with the State of Pennsylvania licensing bodies.

Manage school program and curriculum. Maintain accurate record-keeping including faculty files, student files, and classroom records.

Manage budget, payroll, and petty cash. Conduct faculty orientation, complete faculty reviews, facilitate monthly and bi-annual in-service faculty meetings.

Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum within the context of the PA Early Learning Standards. Provide faculty assistance with lesson plan preparation and theme development and review lesson plan books, posted lesson plans, daily activity reports, and child portfolios.

Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development and actively participate in professional organizations, conferences, and lectures.

Develop and manage summer program.

Recruit, interview, hire and manage faculty.

Create and implement a professional development for faculty.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.

Must be, or have the credentials to become, State of Pennsylvania Director certified.

Prior faculty and operational management experience in a preschool environment.

Current (or previous) Director experience is highly preferred.

Demonstrate highly effective organizational and time management abilities.

Must have experience managing faculty, curriculum, and lesson planning.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be well organized. Must be a team player, a team builder, and committed to professional development.
