Morning Care Counselors

Join our school-age child care programs at The Gateway Family YMCA, Five Points Branch located in Union, NJ. This is a part-time position.

Our Morning Care counselors are responsible for leading his/her assigned group in small group activities before school. The program is held at the school itself. Opportunities are available in either morning care as well as aftercare, if interested. All employees receive a complimentary YMCA membership with employment.

Monday-Friday

Before Care: 6:45am-9am, 10 hours per week

Job Description

· Must be available 5 days a week during program hours. Work schedule follows school district schedule.

· Ensure the health, safety and well-being of participants in the program, by providing appropriate supervision at all times.

· Maintain accurate program documentation (attendance, sign in/out forms, behavior/incident/accident reports, as appropriate).

· Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events at the Y (family nights) as needed.

Job Requirements

· Experience working with school-age children preferred

· Must have car and valid driver's license to get to and from designated site.

· Comfortable working with large groups of students in grades K-5 (elementary school program)

-Comfortable planning and implementing activities and programs throughout program time frame.

· Must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members to ensure the program is running at a high quality.

· Friendly personality and comfortable communicating with school faculty, parents of students, coworkers and students enrolled in the program.
