The Gardens at Springfield is Hiring a Weekend Lead Host/Hostess Near Springfield, MO

Looking for a Weekend Lead Host/Hostess. Offering a $1500 sign-on bonus for the right candidate.. This part-time position offers flexible scheduling with evening and day shifts as well as PRN shifts.

As the Weekend Lead Host/Hostess, you'll oversee meal service to residents, families, and guests, ensuring top-notch customer service from designated community staff. Your responsibilities include maintaining quality plate presentation, prompt service, and cleanliness in the meal service areas throughout your shifts.


Essential Functions

  • Ensures adequate daily staffing on shift by communicating with community leadership; primarily the Culinary Services Director / Supervisor, Health Services Director and Executive Director or other assigned community leadership.
  • Assists Culinary Services Director / Supervisor with training that encourages team performance, instructs them on technical issues and policies and procedures.
  • Attends staff meetings as required by Culinary Services Director and/or Executive Director.
  • Assures resident, family and guest feedback is directed to the community leadership.
  • Assures that all server pre-service and post-service side work is successfully completed, this will be accomplished by providing delegation to assigned staff, including themselves.
  • Will assign sections and tables to assure all residents and guests are served in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the cleaning and preparation of the dining room and tables insuring they are set in restaurant style dining appearance. Sets tables and assures condiments are filled and available.
  • Maintains other service areas such as hydration stations, beverage stations and bistro areas per community policies and procedures.
  • Assures drink station and/or salad bar are set according to department policies and procedures.
  • Takes orders for meals and assures other assigned staff take orders from residents using excellent customer service skills.
  • Assures drinks are filled according to residents’ / guests’ requests and are kept filled as needed.
  • Serves and oversees the service of residents and guests to assure their choices are met.
  • Tracks resident’s attendance at meals and coordinates with care staff to assure all residents have been provided the choice of coming for the meal. In addition track all guest meals to ensure they are accounted for to ensure they can be billed or charged.
  • Manage and ensure all guest reservations are accounted and prepared for. If necessary make sure the Private Dining Room is cleaned and set for any reservations that have requested it.
  • As requested by Executive Director or Culinary Services Director set up, run and cleanup for special events at the community.
  • Assures tables, chairs, floors, equipment, dishes and kitchen are cleaned following community’s policies and procedures.
  • Assures that all cleaning checklists and cleaning responsibilities are completed per community policies and procedures.
  • Assures all room trays are set up and delivered as needed.
  • Stocks supplies.
  • Report equipment safety issues to the Culinary Service Director / Supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information in and out of the community and protects and supports residents’ rights.
  • Maintains a professional appearance by wearing clean, pressed required uniform and a demeanor that encourages a positive nurturing environment for the residents, families, vendors, and guests.
  • Maintains a positive customer service environment and practices honesty and integrity in all aspects of performance.
  • Demonstrates a SERVANT heart and attitude by following the Bethesda Senior Living Communities’ Mission Statement.

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job


Provides supervision of Culinary Serving Staff, Care Partners, Medications Aides (CMA’s, QMAP’s) and or other staff who are assigned to work in the community dining room or other community meal service areas under the leadership of the Culinary Services Director/Supervisor.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with residents and staff.
  • Must show compassion and genuinely care for the elderly.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the location of the SDS sheets on hazardous materials and able to understand the guidelines.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team to prioritize work load as emergencies arise.
  • Have appropriate health certifications as required by local, state and federal health departments.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations with residents, families, visitors, and other staff.
  • Must have excellent organizational, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision by following all community policies and procedures and guidelines using good judgment and common sense.
  • Maintains a positive, pleasant manner at all times realizing that work environment can be stressful and demanding.
  • Must be able to manage stress in a constructive manner seeking assistance of Culinary Services Director, Health Services Director and/or Executive Director as needed.
  • Must be fluent in English in order to communicate effectively with staff and residents.


Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Position requires experience with food production and service, sanitation and safety as well as previous supervisory experience. Will need ServSafe Certification.


Working Environment/Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Must be able to lift residents, with assistance, over 100 pounds.
