Requirements

Job Purpose: 

The Health Equity Programs Manager will support the vision of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada: Health Food, Every Person, Every Day. This role will engage community partners to develop solutions to address food and nutrition insecurity. They will plan, develop, implement and support initiatives and programs that support and promote health equity and positive health outcomes for the community. Additionally, this leadership role will have oversight and responsibility for Food Bank of Northern Nevada’s programs that focus on supporting the needs of food insecure families throughout our service area. This includes SNAP Outreach, Nutrition Education, and Prescription Pantry Program. This position will also support strategy and planning for all programs that FBNN operates, in partnership with Director of Programs and Community Engagement.

Required Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree / Masters Degree desired.

or 

 · Four years of progressive leadership, managing and supporting a diverse team. 

· Two years related experience developing and delivering programs to community members.

· Leadership experience working with non-profits and government desired.

· Ability to safely drive and operate a refrigerated vehicle.

· Position requires some in-state travel.

Required Certifications:

· Valid Nevada driver’s license and proof of satisfactory driving record.

Essential Functions, include, but are not limited to:

· Research, identify, develop, and evaluate health equity models; make recommendations to advance health equity strategic objectives and reduce health disparities in the community, as they relate to food insecurity. 

· Acts as an influencer and subject matter expert on health equity, social determinants of health, and cultural diversity and inclusion. Understand the connection between food insecurity and positive health outcomes. 

· Support all aspects of the SNAP outreach work in partnership with the SNAP Outreach Supervisor, assuring that our relationship with DWSS is strong. Assure that community partners are engaged in this work with us, and that we are addressing all needs and supporting gaps for all Northern Nevadans who are eligible for SNAP.

· Support and mentor the Nutrition Coordinator to strengthen the nutrition education work at FBNN.

· Support and mentor the Health and Nutrition Partnerships Coordinator to grow and strengthen the Prescription Pantry Program. Assist in planning, coordination, and development of this program, to assure equity in our program delivery.

· Work with the Community Impact Manager to assure FBNN is involved in relevant community events, and work is being done to increase equity and access throughout our service area. 

· Provide strong and consistent communication, to support the goals of the programs, but also to support the goals of the organization. Be fluent in varied communication styles, and techniques. 

· Draft, execute, and support performance management plans and annual evaluations for all members of your team. 

· Special projects as defined by leadership team.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

· Knowledge and understanding of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

· Ability to strategize and develop program changes that support community need.

· Ability to create, manage and adjust program and organization budgets.

· Ability to create and manage work plans, for varied programs.

· Strong management and leadership skills.

· Ability to lead a diverse group of talented team members.

· Able to take direction well, using active listening skills, asking questions and taking notes if necessary.

· Ability to work independently.

· Experienced computer skills (Microsoft Office products and ability to learn and utilize different types of software).

· Excellent phone etiquette.

· Excellent public relations and customer service skills.

· Ability to perform as an effective, positive team member.

· Impeccable ethical business practices.

· Maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.

· Excellent history of attendance and on-time performance.

Travel

· Position requires some in-state travel.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. however weekends and evenings will be required, in an effort to accommodate community activities and events.

Physical Demands:

· Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. 

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms when working with documents, files, computers, or office machines. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, crouch, or kneel when working with files. May lift, move and carry objects from 20 to 40 pounds, such as boxes containing office and other supplies.
