Responsibilities

The Group Facilitator will :

• Facilitate gender-responsive and trauma-informed group programming that addresses parenting, visit coaching, and navigating systems.
• Work with VFAP participants during the group sessions to resolve conflict.
• Create a group space that is safe and welcoming, and allows civil dialogue and input from Complete data forms as required by funding sources and organizational need;

Maintain confidential case records for all Visiting and Family Assistance

participants by utilizing Salesforce, other databases, and paper files as needed.

Performing other duties as required

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, Psychology, Social work, or Human Services
• At least 1 year of direct practice experience working with individuals and families impacted by incarceration, criminal justice, foster care or family court involvement, substance abuse issues, and / or intimate partner violence.
• Must be comfortable being in a unit with incarcerated individuals.
• Successful completion of background investigation by DOC as part of volunteer application process
• A demonstrated commitment to parents’ rights and social justice
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have the ability to provide effective services and produce accurate written documents in an appropriate time manner.
• Must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally inclusive manner.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to have solid, productive boundaries and work cooperatively with NYC Department of Corrections staff, and other providers.
• Computer and technical skills, specifically Microsoft Office program
