The Episcopal School of Dallas Inc is Hiring an Assistant Softball Coach Near Dallas, TX

Description

The Episcopal School of Dallas prepares young men and women for lives of intellectual discovery, integrity, and purpose. Built upon our Founding Tenets of Daily Worship, Community, Ethical Decision-Making, and Service, ESD is committed to the intellectual, spiritual, and physical wellness of every member of its community.

Founded in 1974 by The Reverend Stephen B. Swann with eight seventh-grade students, today ESD educates and inspires 1,150 students in grades beginner (age 3) through grade 12. ESD is located in Dallas, a modern metropolis of North Texas, and a commercial and cultural hub in the region.
At the heart of ESD are talented and compassionate faculty and staff who are the backbone of our institution and paramount to the school’s success. They adeptly balance rigorous, college preparatory coursework with understanding and nurturing of the whole child. Classes are small, with an overall student-teacher ratio of 7:1. ESD employees are lifelong learners, and the school invests nearly $500,000 in professional development annually. More than 250 serve the ESD community and all are appreciated and respected for their individual and collective contributions.

Purpose: The Episcopal School of Dallas has an Assistant Softball Coach position available for Spring 2023. Looking for an energetic coach with a strong softball background who aspires to teach and mentor young athletes and contribute to the growth of the ESD softball program. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to lead and have a thorough knowledge of the sport, skill development and coaching techniques. Must attend all practices and competitions and manage aspects of the program assigned by the head coach/program director.

*This is a part-time, seasonal position with a stipend

Experience, Skills and Responsibilities

  • Previous softball coaching experience preferred
  • Previous softball playing experience preferred
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the rules of the game
  • Ability to successfully communicate with student-athletes, parents and members of the ESD athletic department
  • Strong leadership and coaching presence
  • Positively represent The Episcopal School of Dallas, along with appropriate supervision at all times
  • Be on time to all required coaching responsibilities
  • Manage game day logistics-lineups, substitutions, strategy
  • Develop and work with pitchers throughout the program

Abuse Risk Management Standards:

  • Adheres to policies related to boundaries with students.
  • Attends required abuse risk management training.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising students.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, Undergraduate Degree preferred
  • A love and enthusiasm for teaching children
  • Knowledge of independent school culture and practices
