Job Location: Saint Joseph, MO
Salary Range: $13.45 - $22.16 Hourly

Description

The mission and purpose of this position are to compassionately deliver high-quality service and basic and advanced patient care in a professional, caring and cost effective manner. The EMT works under the supervision of Director of Field Operations of REMSA. Provides advanced-level care and transportation of ill and injured patients as described and regulated by the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services via the authority of the Missouri Comprehensive Emergency Medical Services Systems Act (Chapter 190, Missouri Revised Statutes 190.010 –190.245).

Qualifications


  • Performs all patient care skills at the level of a Missouri licensed Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B).
  • Assess each call situation to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol.
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures including, oxygen and suction devices, CPR and other procedures as required to provide medical care.
  • Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
  • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
  • Provides assistance to the Paramedic on the ambulance team.
  • Communicate with patient and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given and to show compassion.
  • Act as a member of the team and take responsibility for scene management as needed.
  • Drive the ambulance safely at all times. Plans routes to and from scenes appropriately.
  • Keep current on certifications.
  • Communicate with dispatcher to receive and understand call data and customer feedback.
  • Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the image of REMSA.
  • Document activities completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of vehicle, supplies and equipment.
  • When dealing with a multiple-victim emergency scene, provides all basic emergency care to patients independent of the paramedic. Assigns and directs other medical providers in loading and destination management of the patient.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Missouri EMT-B license.
  • Current BLS License.
  • Class E Driver's License.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • 1 year experience as an EMT-B is preferred.
