The Educator Academy is Hiring a Program Manager of Educator Preparation Near Kansas, MO

TITLE: Program Manager: Educator PreparationREPORTS TO: Director of Educator PreparationSTART DATE: June 1, 2024
BACKGROUND:

The Educator Academy (The EA) is a nonprofit education organization focused on recruiting and preparing individuals to become teachers, and also supporting current teachers to stay in the classroom for the long term. We envision a world where an equitable education system is a reality. To get there, we aim to cultivate and sustain empowered educators in creating equitable classroom experiences for all students.

Founded in 2016 as Kansas City Teacher Residency (KCTR), our organization's original core focus was teacher preparation through the residency model. Over time, given the shifting dynamics and needs of education, we have expanded to offer multiple avenues for people to enter the classroom and deepened our support for those already in the classroom.

Programs:

  • Teacher Residency - This program is designed for individuals with little to no teaching experience to earn teacher certification. This model allows teacher residents to learn theory and apply strategies in real time through a clinical experience. Residents gradually transition from observing and supporting their mentor teacher to lead-teaching full days of instruction by the end of the school year. After the residency year is complete, graduates commit to being a teacher of record in Kansas City for at least 3 years. Throughout the entire process, The EA provides instructional coaching to ensure they are developing into highly effective teachers. .
  • Teacher Fellowship - This program is meant for educators currently teaching in an uncertified manner to earn their teacher certification. With hands-on support through coaching and professional development, this certification pathway supports keeping individuals in the classroom for the long haul.
  • Mentor Teacher Program - Our mentor teacher program is meant to provide professional development for veteran teachers. Through this program, mentors are paired with pre-service teachers (residents) for an entire school year while receiving development to provide coaching to their residents. This program provides the opportunity for teachers to grow in their profession while remaining in the classroom.
  • Professional Development - We provide professional development to educators at large through programs like The Summit. Our vision is that The Summit is grounded in community, connection, and content. Great things are happening in education and we want to connect educators to the resources and community they need to be effective in the classroom. This educator conference in Kansas City is meant to provide engaging resources to educators both in and outside of the classroom.
