JOB PURPOSE 

Reporting to the Clinical Director of Residential Services. The field Instructor coordinator will provide supervision to interns and coordinating to help deliver services in the Trauma Informed Modified Therapeutic Community. Direct Practice is crucial to the educational process of Social Work Interns. Most students think of their internship placement as the most important part of their social work training and education. To ensure that CRW and PCO has a well-organized and well-structured internship program it is essential to have a Coordinator who is responsible for engaging the students, the universities, and the larger CRW staff.S/he will work in an integrated fashion with other clinical program staff to provide effective individualized services and interventions that meet the health and wellness plans, and treatment plan goals and objectives for residents. S/he will help residents learn how to utilize their strengths to deal with the many problems related to chemical dependency and develop the skills necessary to allow them to function as valuable members of the community without the use of drugs or alcohol.

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

  • Delivery of wellness and recreation-based services consistent with the modified Therapeutic Community model
  • Contributor to the administrative and clinical operations of facility
  • Coordination of wellness and recreation-based services

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Social Work Field Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Engage with Schools of Social Work to select the best, and brightest students who are committed to working with a substance using population
  • Assist students in understanding how ethics and values guide agency policy and practice
  • Monitor the student’s self-awareness and their capacity to develop professional relationships with agency consumers
  • Ensure that students acquire engagement, interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Ensure that students understand the role and function of the agency services in addressing social and economic justice.
  • Ensure that students understand the continuum of termination with agency consumers as a process, not an event, at the end of service provision.
  • Sensitize students to the impact that ethnicity, age, gender, religion or spiritual orientation, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and relationship to the dominant culture has on professional relationships and to their own feelings or emotions about the issues; and ensure that they are capable of dealing with these differences in an open, constructive manner.
  • Provide the knowledge base necessary for students to objectively and scientifically assess a client system’s functioning and capacity to be involved in the helping process.
  • Ensure that the student can assist the agency consumers in developing appropriate goals and intervention plans
  • Ensure that the student complies with confidentiality requirements and other organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide the student with exposure to program outcome goals, program evaluation, accreditation, etc.
  • Ensure that students understand the agency organizational structure, funding streams and macro influences on agency policies and programs
  • Provide a minimum of one hour of face-to-face structured supervision weekly.
  • Complete all performance evaluations that are required by the school
  • Inter-face with the Faculty Advisors from the school
  • Select and train the Task Supervisors

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Required Knowledge 

  • This position requires a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Seminar in Field Education (SIFI)
  • One (1) year of related work experience in a Residential Therapeutic Community setting strongly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral treatment and behavior modification in practice
  • Leadership and coaching skills to facilitate buy in from various partners in agency, including residential population 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a broad variety of people, including other team members and management.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. 
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health records.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to perform duties
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk with and monitor the residents during outings, which can amount to anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours of walking per recreation trip
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work and the ability to observe, perceive, and identify any safety concerns while on duty.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • Ability to uphold the demands of working with residential clientele who have significant history of trauma, substance use disorder, and mental health conditions. 
  • Regular, predictable attendance and punctuality is required
