We are seeking a Security Officer / Motor Patrol for Dollywood Resorts who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while caring deeply about our brand.

This individual is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while ensuring the success and profitability of our unique offerings. They also bring fun, authenticity, collaboration, creativity, and genuine hospitality to their life and work. We seek an individual who can bring the vision of the resorts to life. The right Security Officer / Motor Patrol checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role exists to protect people and property, maintain a peaceful, fun-filled and safe atmosphere, and enforce Security procedures at Dollywood while Creating Memories Worth Repeating for our guests.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Animal control.
  • Assist Guests and Hosts with vehicle problems.
  • Assisting in the transport and escort of monies.
  • Assisting the Safety-First Aid Department as assigned.
  • Assisting with fire and flood prevention.
  • Being generally friendly and caring.
  • Controlling and directing on park traffic.
  • Controlling park access at Host and service entrances.
  • Crowd control.
  • Helping guests find their way.
  • Issuing tickets for illegally parked Host vehicles.
  • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time.
  • Monitoring Fire Suppression Systems
  • Monitoring Park alarm systems.
  • Patrolling buildings.
  • Patrolling Guest and Host parking lots.
  • Providing Dignitary Protection Services for visiting celebrities.
  • Responding to calls for service regarding unruly Guests/Hosts.
  • Responding to calls for service, i.e.; shoplifting, burglary and theft.
  • Reuniting lost persons on park.
  • Taking possession of lost property and returning same to Lost & Found.
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights up to 60 feet.
  • Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities.
  • Able to comprehend instructions and retain information.
  • Able to get along with other employees to work out problems and resolve conflicts. (Able to work cooperatively with others.)
  • Able to have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties.
  • Able to hear, see and speak.
  • Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Able to operate/drive a motor vehicle.
  • Able to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on time
  • Able to report to work without being under the influence of or smelling of alcohol.
  • Able to sit and/or stand for long/short periods.
  • Able to smile and make eye contact to make a friendly impression when greeting guests, vendors and other employees.
  • Able to speak, read and write English.
  • Able to tolerate a fast-paced, hectic environment.
  • Able to tolerate temperatures of 0°F to 110°F
  • Able to work outdoors.
  • Must be able to pass company required drug testing.
  • Must display and live out Servant Qualities by being: patient, kind, humble, respectful, selfless, forgiving, honest and committed.

Education and Experience Required

  • Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others.
  • At least one year of experience working successfully in a similar role. Preference will be given to candidates with prior Law Enforcement or Security related experience.
  • Must be able to meet the qualifications to be certified as a Security Officer by the State of Tennessee, licensed by the Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protection Services as prescribed by the Tennessee Code Annotated 62-35 Act of 1922 (See attachments TCA 62-35-116, TCA 62-35-117)
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Ability to develop skill in the use and care of firearms.
  • Must possess valid Tennessee driver’s license and have state required auto insurance.
  • First Aid and C.P.R. certification required or ability to obtain a certification in a timely manner.
  • Must be willing and able to pass First Responder Course and apply material when needed.
  • Must be able to meet the same requirements as a police officer for the State of Tennessee:
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a credit check.
  • Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor and other alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.
  • Must not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States.
  • Must have fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
  • Must pass a physical examination by a licensed physician.
  • Must have good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency; and/or the POST Commission.
  • Must be certified by a Tennessee Licensed Health Care Provider qualified in the psychiatric or psychological fields as being free from any impairment, as set forth in the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association at the time of the examination that would, in the professional judgement of the examiner, affect the person’s ability to perform an essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
