Grain Elevator Location Manager

Job Description:

The Grain Elevator Location Managers primary goal is for the assets under management to exceed customer service expectations. The objectives apply to both the local customer/producer we buy from, as well as the End-User Shuttle markets we sell to. A candidate should have a clear understanding of, and empathy for, all activity performed by employees within the facilities under management.

FULL-TIME/ PART-TIME: Full- time

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Exempt

Pay: Based on Experience

Location: East and West Chemung, IL

Shift: Varies based on the season and needs of the locations Typically 45 hours per week. Shuttle train support and harvest time (approx. 9/25 – 11/24) requires 6/7 days a week, 65-75 hrs. per week.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Grain Elevator Group Manager:

Create / Maintain a Cohesive Team (supt. employees) – A strong supporter of Preventive Maintenance and Shuttle Train loading.
Forecast Grain movements and volumes (receipts and shipments), Annual Budgets with quarterly updates, 5 Year Capital Expenses.
Regular assessment of facility space and logistics to be coordinated with Div. Manager.
Coordinate / assure appropriate amounts of Preventative Maintenance and Safety Training has been completed and recorded. Utilize MaintainX.
Customer Service - Exceed grain handling expectations, effective communication of company policies and services.
Inventory Management – Assure accuracy of grain grading, set blending objectives, coordinate with Div. Man. the seasonal allocation of Bin Space, and Daily, bin by bin space management.
Have quarterly reviews with employees, Coordinate training and growth opportunities, Monitor and respond to the competitiveness of compensation / incentive programs.
In coordination with HR department, determine and acquire seasonal employees.
Stay knowledgeable on industry trends and advancements by studying trade publications or trade show attendance.

Key Attributes of the Grain Elevator Group Manager:

5 or more years in Grain Facility Management.
Proficient with Excel, Word, Salesforce, and MaintaneX software.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
A strong mathematical aptitude (geometry and algebra).
Good understanding of commodity (grain) markets – Supply/Demand/Transportation.
Able to offer support the Shuttle Train loading.
Spreadsheet use and development – work related, for individual use.
Basis Business – supply/demand, revenue, expense, and margins.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and terms.
Better than entry level knowledge on Cash Bid development and Hedge Placement.
Computer electronics and accessories – set up.
High School Diploma with some secondary schooling in Business, Economics, and Computer skills
