THE OPPORTUNITYCoordinate and participate in the enhancement, modification, maintenance and use of complex specialized department or countywide system (e.g. FAMIS, BPREP, Property system); provide lead direction or limited supervision to staff including planning, assigning and reviewing the work of staff who assist with computer system functions on a day-to-day or project basis; review and interpret County, State and Federal regulations and policies, determines impact of regulations on assigned systems, evaluates alternatives, and develops changes to assigned systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations; identify appropriate software and systems to meet department needs. 
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
  • Provide lead direction, training and work review to staff on a day-to-day or project basis.
  • Plan, schedule and assign work to accomplish departmental projects and objectives; set priorities and review completion of assigned work.
  • Provide input into performance evaluations and disciplinary matters.
  • Interpret County, State and Federal regulations to determine impact on assigned system functions; work with Information Services to develop system modifications to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate system enhancements and modifications with Information Services, vendors and other county departments for countywide systems, which directly affect the department's ability to provide services (e.g. Property system, FAMIS, BPREP).
  • Identify new applications and enhancements to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental and/or County operations; develop and coordinate implementation of modifications with Information Services personnel.
  • Serve as the focal point for systems development within the assigned department; assist in the classification of user needs and coordinates department resources for large projects.
  • Assist users of a department's computer system to sign on to the system and call up application programs.
  • Identify hardware problems; coordinate repair with Information Services or vendor when needed.
  • Provide operational assistance required by users of departmental applications; instruct others in the use of generic PC programs and in the use of department-specific software.
  • Serve as the department expert in developing and producing standard and ad-hoc reports from departmental systems.
  • Review and evaluate hardware and software options for departmental purchase and use; recommend selection of systems and assists with installation.
  • Perform daily system support functions such as adding and removing terminals, adding and removing user profiles and security provisions and re-allocating disk space.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly backup of files and system software; format main disks and loads software updates.
  • Perform varied, complex administrative analyses and support work in the department as required.
  • Attendance and punctuality that is observant of scheduled hours on a regular basis.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Where college degrees and/or college course credits are required, degrees and college units must be obtained from an accredited college or university. Courses from non-accredited institutions will not be evaluated for this requirement.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science or a field closely related to the department to which assigned,

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in the installation, development, operation and/or maintenance of computer systems. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Experience in providing work direction and review to professional and support staff is desirable.

The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Sr. Information Technology Department Coordinator.This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full-time vacancies for at least three (3) months.
  • There is currently one (1) full-time vacancy in the Health and Human Services Agency, Social Services located in Placerville, CA.
This Senior IT Department Coordinator position will support Child Welfare Services (CWS) in the Health and Human Services Agency. CWS has responsibility for the safety, well-being, and permanency of children in our community who are victims of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. This position will work collaboratively with State and County partners to implement the new statewide case management system that is required. Additionally, this position will support the day-to-day operations of the Child Welfare Services/Case Management System (CWS/CMS) and ensure that all CWS staff can access technology to complete their jobs efficiently and effectively. Staff in this position will be exposed to confidential, and sensitive information relating to children and families.
