Full Job Description
Stephenson Dirt Contracting LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to manage and oversee the financial aspects of our diverse construction projects. This critical role involves working closely with project managers, estimators, and other key stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy and integrity across projects ranging from $500k to $3 million. The successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, expense tracking, and financial reporting, ensuring all projects are completed within budget and financial guidelines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, expense tracking, and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure timely execution and adherence to project budgets.
  • Oversee the billing process from initial setup in Oracle through final invoicing, ensuring accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Generate detailed financial reports, analyzing variances and identifying potential financial risks.
  • Maintain strict financial controls and systems, ensuring precise transaction recording and compliance.
  • Conduct regular financial audits and reviews, offering insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely subcontractor payments and financial obligations.
  • Assist estimators and project managers in maintaining accurate job costs and daily budgeting.
  • Monitor project spending, ensuring costs and coding are accurate and provide daily budget updates.
  • Actively participate in project meetings to report financial status and aid in decision-making processes.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the civil sitework or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Oracle, Sage, MS Excel, and other relevant accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong understanding of accounting principles and project financial management.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical financial practices and adherence to company policies.
  • Team player with the ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
