Full Job Description

Periwinklers, a leader in bespoke architectural woodwork and custom interiors, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Estimator/Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. This role is crucial for accurately predicting project costs and ensuring profitability. The ideal candidate will have experience in the woodworking or construction industries, particularly with commercial projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and identifying project requirements.
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Interface with project managers and design teams to define project requirements and potential changes.
Manage the RFP (Request for Proposals) process for subcontractors and evaluate their bids with an emphasis on ensuring both competitiveness and quality.
Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
Provide timely and accurate information to the project management team to ensure that projects are bid and completed within budget.
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and technologies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of estimates.

The ideal candidate should possess:

Proven experience as an estimator in commercial construction or woodworking.
Strong understanding of CNC operations and architectural woodworking based on project requirements.
Experience with estimating software and proficient with other computer software programs used in the pre-construction process.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A degree in construction management, engineering, or related field is preferred.
