About the Consortium

The West Philadelphia Community Mental Health Consortium, Inc. (Consortium) is a nonprofit (501(c)(3) Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) established in 1967 as one of Philadelphia’s twelve CMHCs. Throughout our history, we have pioneered providing behavioral health services with ‘compassion first’ priorities coupled with excellence in mental health treatments and collaborative understanding. For over five decades, we have helped more than 250,000 people throughout the tri-state area overcome the challenges of mental illness and substance abuse. We have been the home of many firsts, from the first methadone clinic to the first clinic providing integrated care. We have a proud and diverse history that is driven by our community. Located in West Philadelphia, the Consortium is the premier provider of Supports Coordination, Outpatient Mental Health, Addictions, Case Management, Eco-systemic Family Therapy (ESFT) and Functional Family Therapy (FFT) for all ages in West and Southwest Philadelphia, serving approximately 4,000 individuals in 2022. Utilizing Evidence Based Practices (EBP) in all programs, the Consortium is accredited by CARF for outpatient drug and alcohol services and has received the EBP Designation through Community Behavioral Health’s Evidence-based Practice and Innovation Center (EPIC) for both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Most recently, the Consortium’s Integrated Care Program was recognized as “Most Innovative Program” by the City of Philadelphia.

What is Expected in this ROLE

  • Responsible for facilitating group and individual counseling sessions, daily, over the twelve-month period
  • Provide services to 140 unique individuals each month. This will include, 14 groups (maximum 10 participants) and 35 individual counseling sessions will be offered each week
  • Service utilization will be documented within required timeframes
  • Will ensure that documentation and maintenance of information follow HIPPA standards.
  • Individuals served will have the option for Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) which is evidence-based self-help program for substance abuse

What is Expected of YOU

  • Required: Master’s degree with a preferred major in Social Work, Education, Human Services, Counseling Psychology, from an accredited college or university
  • Required: Two years of paid experience and/or training in Medical Specialties: Addiction medicine
  • Required: Addiction counseling: 1 year
  • Valid licensure or certification as a Clinician
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and over-all computer skills)
  • Required: Completion of the Investigation Application for the Camden County Department of Corrections
  • Must be able to work within a corrections facility, in Camden New Jersey
  • Must have reliable transportation to the facility
