Position: Recovery Support Specialist (Peer)

Program: Sierra - EFRB

Location: New Haven

Salary: $18.00/hour

Schedule: Full time; 40 hours; 1st shift; Sunday-Thursday (10a-6p)

Program Summary:

During their 3-6 month length of stay in this congregate care type setting, pre-trial adult males with a primary mental health diagnosis are provided with supervision,psycho-educational and skill-building services to support them in re-entering the community after a period of incarceration. The goal is to reduce recidivism through establishing positive behavioral change and pro-social community connectivity.

Position Summary:

The Peer Recovery Specialist will combine personal experience with professional training to support clients in different phases of recovery utilizing a strengths-based client-centered approach.

Working within Adult Services, the Recovery Support Specialist (Peer) works on the Residential Behavioral Health Treatment care team to support clients’ recovery from mental illness, substance use, and homelessness.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent and Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist
  • 1 year related experience
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Orientation:

If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees will be required to attend a two (2) day mandatory New Hire Orientation at our Roscommon office located in Middletown.
