Position: Program Director

Program: Eddy Shelter

Location: Middletown

Salary: $65,000-70,000/year

Schedule: Full time, 40 hours, 1st shift, Monday - Friday, with on call responsibilities

Program Summary:

The Program Director provides supervision, direction, and program development for the following programs:

  • Eddy Shelter: A 40-bed homeless shelter for single men and women that operates 24/7 year-round,
  • Middlesex-Meriden-Wallingford Young Adult Crisis Housing Program: A 4-bed crisis housing program that resides in the same building for homeless young adults age 18-24.
  • Labella Place: Case management program for adult men and women with mental health or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders who are temporarily residing on the Labella campus.

Position Summary:

The responsibilities of the Program Director include: Supervision of Program Manager & Residential Aid Supervisor, program development, staff interviewing/hiring/training & performance management, budget monitoring & collaboration with community partners. The Program Director will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships in the Middletown-area community, responding quickly to funder and QI department requests, monthly review of HMIS and DDaP systems and data, and close coordination with regional leadership of the homeless response system.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, is highly motivated, organized, and committed to providing and sustaining a trauma informed environment. Experience working in a position that supports individuals living with homelessness and substance use/mental health is necessary. Experience working in a residential/congregate care setting strongly preferred.

Working within Adult Services, the Program Director works on the Residential Behavioral Health Treatment care team to support clients’ recovery from mental illness, substance use, and homelessness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of experience in a supervisory position and experience working in residential environments, or
  • Master’s Degree with 1 year of experience in a supervisory position and experience working in residential environments
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Orientation:

If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees will be required to attend a mandatory two (2) day New Hire Orientation that will be held in our Roscommon office in Middletown.
