JOB DESCRIPTION
The Model Technical Writer will be a member of the Forecast Model Development Team responsible for enhancing our forecast models in support of the company's financial forecast and will report to the Head of Forecast Model Development. The Model Technical Writer will collaborate cross-functionally with other teams, including but not limited to Financial Planning & Analysis' Anaplan System Development Team, Treasury, Expense Management, Corporate Actuarial's Liability Projections and Inforce Management team, Investments, Controllers and Enterprise Risk Management to ensure that our models are well-documented and compliant with enterprise model governance policies. The ideal candidate has technical writing expertise, is a problem solver, an effective communicator, highly organized, and is always driven to learn new skills.
You'll join a team of innovative, collaborative, and resourceful people who think differently, think big, and persevere through all challenges.
You'll be able to:
Business as Usual
1.Research, review and understand Anaplan/FinX Forecaster models.
2.Interpret model code, schemas, modules, data inflows and outflows, etc.
3.Develop, draft, write, and edit model documentation, functional descriptions, process flow diagrams, LUCID charts, and other technical documents and illustrations.
4.Draft and archive model documentation according to a specified corporate template.
5.Translate technical model information into clear, readable documentation used by technical and non-technical audiences.
6.Interface with personnel to coordinate meetings, discuss models and documentation, maintain records and files.
7.Communicate status of work and any requirements for additional information.
8.Complete assigned tasks according to established specifications, expectations, deadlines, and company policies and procedures.
9.Transfer knowledge to Forecast Model Development Team.
10.Perform any other job-related instructions, as requested by the Head of Forecast Model Development.
Teaming
*Be a thought partner to other Forecast Model Development Team members for the documentation of models to support business needs
*Contribute to the team's inclusive team environment that emphasizes continuous improvement, open communication, and solution delivery
Required Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information
*Minimum of five (5) years of experience writing complete, complex technical documents, including organizing the document
*Prior experience as a model builder or solutions/system architect in enterprise planning tools such as Anaplan, Oracle, and SAP
*Advanced proficiency writing or interpreting Excel VBA code, JAVA or similar programming languages
*Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, LUCID, VIZIO, or similar process flow applications
*Experience documenting technical workflows and specifications
*Experience conducting research and ensuring use of proper technical terminology
*Meticulous attention to detail and effective professional correspondence Experience working cross-functionally
*Ability to seek guidance and learn new skills from peers
*Continuous improvement mindset
*Strong written and oral communication
You'll stand out if you have:
*Experience with project management tools and methodologies such as Jira, Confluence, and Scrum
*Certification in the following Anaplan Courses: Level 1 Model Building and Level 2 Model Building
*Proficiency with Anaplan as a Model Developer, Solutions Architect, business or end user who understands the underlying building blocks, PLANS standards and DISCO concepts, and can read, interpret and code models and modules
*Ability to deliver complex projects using effective planning, pragmatic approaches, and collaboration despite obstacles and ambiguity
*Ability to work independently to create, track, and report on plans to complete multiple documents on the project in a timely manner.
*Ability to work under tight deadlines.
