The School of Education - Center for Sensory & Complex Disabilities need to hire 3 Virtual Staff with degrees for the Summer 2024 Transition program.
Virtual Program Staff are paraprofessional staff members who act as facilitators and work to enhance the social, educational, and personal development of each student. Virtual Program staff are active support staff in all program activities. Virtual Program Staff have a responsibility to ensure the inclusion, safety, and well being of all program participants. Virtual Program Staff will also will also have sensitivity to, and awareness of the needs, anxieties, and frustrations of program participants, provide help and assistance in both group and one-on-one situations, assist program participants with personal, social, and academic concerns, and display a positive and professional attitude that supports program participants, staff, support services, and others.
Our programs are referral-based and run in partnership with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We currently coordinate three Transition Programs for high school students who have vision loss. All of our programs focus on preparation for employment, person-centered planning, community-based instruction, social skills, self-advocacy, independent living, and recreation and leisure skills. Our STEPS Program is for individuals with complex disabilities who are preparing for a customized employment plan after they transition from high school. The SUCCESS Program is for individuals who are looking to attend post-secondary educational programs. Our CREATE Program is a blend of both of the above programs and is designed for individuals who may need a bit of additional support or time to help them prepare for life after high school.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Will facilitate computer based remote lessons and activities in areas of education, employment, independent living and community integration
  • Knowledge of zoom, google classroom, Microsoft office
  • Assist with the summary of performance/final report for all participants
  • Support all participants as needed
Required Qualifications:
  • Some years of experience with transition and individuals with Intellectual Disabilites
  • Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Demonstrated ability to…conduct lessons in remote learning
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of remote learning
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Experience working with high school aged students
Employer Qualifications:
  • Final offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background check and reference checks
